A Levenwick for Miss Smarley

-::- It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

-::- A Henslowe for Miss Jacqueline Smarley

My youngest sister has chosen a Levenwick as her Christmas present. I had my eye on this design by Gudrun Johnston, and the pattern in my library, for a long time.

Levenwick is a top down, raglan cardigan worked in reverse stocking stitch.  I just love the collar, borders, and pocket which are knit in a classic Shetland “Old Shale” lace. I’ve just put the stitches for the sleeves on scrap yarn and I’m knitting happily away, using Cascade 220 Heathers in ‘Camel Doré’ chosen by my sister.

Gudrun Johnston named the Levenwick after the Shetland village where she was born.  I called my version Miss Jacqueline Smarley, combining two of the happy receiver’s family nicknames.

Talking of sisters, here’s a little Christmas treat which is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. Enjoy!
