-::- Sunday lunch
To be honest, I’m one of those people who prefer eating to cooking. I like simple, straightforward food. Such as this simplified coq au vin we had for lunch yesterday: chicken thighs, small onions, mushrooms, bacon, red wine and a splash of soy sauce. So simple no recipe is needed. Minimal effort, great taste.
-::- A Christmas Henslowe
I’ve made this little shawl as a Christmas present for my favourite aunt. I used Malabrigo Yarn Sock in Tiziano Red, a rich, dark red which I know she will like. This is such a relaxing knit. The body of the shawl is knitted in garter stitch, with increases at the start of every row, making it an ideal project for watching television or listening to an audio play. I often listen to Radio 4 Extra when knitting. Knitting stops my mind from wandering and I find that I can concentrate more easily on a play when my hands are occupied. Knitting this little shawl, I’ve been listening to the BBC Radio 4’s adaptation of John Le Carré’s George Smiley novels, starring the talented Simon Russell Beale. Highly recommended.
